PSU Hosts “Project Pitching: Say No to Drugs” Empowering Students to Raise Awareness and Help Prevent Drug and Tobacco Use

Prince of Songkla University, or PSU, as the coordinating university for the Drug Prevention and Problem-Solving Network, organized “Project Pitching: Say No to Drugs” from September 17 to 18, 2026, at Siam Oriental Hotel in Hat Yai, Songkhla.
The program provided a platform for students from partner institutions to exchange ideas and present projects focused on drug and tobacco prevention. It also aimed to strengthen awareness and equip young people with the skills to recognize and respond to emerging drug-related risks.

The initiative was organized following PSU’s assignment by the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, to coordinate network activities on drug prevention. Students were encouraged to develop creative campaigns and innovative projects that reflect the realities facing young people today, with the potential to be further developed within their institutions and local communities.

The opening ceremony was presided over by Associate Professor Dr. Wirote Yuravong, Vice President for Student Development and Alumni Relations at PSU, who also presented certificates to participating student project teams and joined participants in a symbolic show of support for drug and tobacco prevention.

Participants also had the opportunity to vote for three Popular Vote awards.

The program also included educational sessions on emerging health concerns. Associate Professor Dr. Chanon Kongkamol from PSU’s Faculty of Medicine delivered a session on “Vape and Health,” highlighting the health impacts associated with e-cigarettes.

On the second day, representatives from the Office of the Narcotics Control Board delivered a session titled “Drug Alert,” aimed at strengthening students’ awareness and self-protection skills. Participants also joined “The Inner Hug” workshop, led by psychiatrists and psychologists, which encouraged greater self-awareness and understanding of emotional well-being.

More than a project presentation platform, “Project Pitching: Say No to Drugs” offered students an opportunity to think, share, and take action together, while building a network of young people who can contribute to drug and tobacco prevention efforts within their educational institutions and wider communities.
