PSU is the only Thai university ranked globally in Hospitality and Tourism Management in GRAS 2026
On September 15, 2026, Prince of Songkla University (PSU) was recognized in the 2026 Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS), also known as the Shanghai Ranking. In the field of Hospitality and Tourism, PSU was ranked in the 76–100 range worldwide, placing third in ASEAN. It was also the only university in Thailand to be ranked in this field.
PSU also received recognition in two other academic fields. Food Science and Technology was ranked in the 101–150 range globally and first in Thailand, while Education was ranked in the 301–400 range worldwide and second in Thailand.
Shanghai Ranking first introduced its global university rankings by academic subject in 2009. In 2016, the ranking was officially renamed the Shanghai Ranking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects, or GRAS.
GRAS evaluates leading universities worldwide across 57 academic subjects in five broad areas: Natural Sciences, Engineering, Life Sciences, Medical Sciences, and Social Sciences.
The rankings are based on nine objective indicators grouped into five key areas: world-class faculty, world-class research output, high-quality research, research impact, and international collaboration.
Each year, GRAS evaluates approximately 20,000 academic subject entries from around 2,000 universities across nearly 100 countries and regions worldwide. PSU’s performance in the 2026 rankings reflects the university’s continued academic and research contributions, as well as the international recognition of its strengths across these fields.
