PSU Concludes Freshmen Games 2026, Celebrating Sports, Friendship, and Unity

The Student Administrative Organization of Prince of Songkla University, Hat Yai Campus, held the closing ceremony of “PSU Freshmen Games 2026,” marking the conclusion of the university’s annual freshmen sports tradition for the 2026 academic year. The event brought together first-year students who had taken part in sporting competitions, teamwork, and friendship-building activities across faculties. Throughout the Games, students had opportunities to develop their sporting abilities while learning the values of teamwork, fair play, respect, and sportsmanship. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wasin Suwannarat, Vice President for Hat Yai Campus, presided over the closing ceremony, joined by university executives, staff, students, and members of the university community. The ceremony was held on 6 September 2026 at the Gymnasium, Sports and Health Center, Prince of Songkla University, Hat Yai Campus.

PSU Freshmen Games 2026 was organized to encourage first-year students to use sports as an opportunity to develop essential life skills and promote both physical and mental well-being. The activities also aimed to foster discipline, responsibility, teamwork, and good sportsmanship — qualities that contribute to a positive and meaningful university experience.

Beyond competition, the Games provided an opportunity to strengthen connections among PSU students from different faculties. First-year students were able to meet new friends, exchange experiences, and build a shared sense of belonging as members of the PSU community,  while developing pride in their university.

During the closing ceremony, the Sports Committee Chair presented a summary of the competition results, followed by the presentation of medals across 15 sports. The program continued with a cheerleading competition featuring four faculty groups, performances by the Dance Club and the International Music Club, and the presentation of trophies for recreational activities, the parade competition, cheerleading competition, and overall achievement.

Held from 29 August to 5 September 2026 at various venues across the Hat Yai Campus, the Games brought first-year students together through sporting competitions, cheering activities, and a range of student engagement events. Throughout the week, the students demonstrated that the value of the Games extended beyond scores, medals, and competition results. The experience also provided opportunities to build friendships, learn from one another, and create shared memories as they began their university journey.

The conclusion of PSU Freshmen Games 2026 therefore marks not only the end of a sporting event, but also an important beginning for first-year students. Through the shared experience of sports, they have begun building friendships, unity, and a sense of community as they move forward together as members of the Prince of Songkla University family.
