PSU establishes the Advanced Institute for Sustainable Health Systems at Phuket Campus to drive health innovation in the Andaman region




Prince of Songkla University (PSU) has officially published its university announcement (No. 4, B.E. 2569) in the Royal Thai Government Gazette regarding campus designation and division establishment. This announcement formally establishes a new division: the "Advanced Institute for Sustainable Health Systems, Prince of Songkla University.” The institute aims to integrate knowledge, medical research, and innovations to elevate national healthcare standards and ensure equitable access for all.



Operating under this new institute is the "Andaman Health Center, Prince of Songkla University," located at the Phuket Campus.⁠ It comprises 7 core departments/sub-divisions ready to drive its comprehensive health missions forward:
1. Department of Sustainable Healthcare Management (Central Administration Office)
2. Department of Tropical Disease Prevention (Andaman Health College)
3. Department of Digital Health Innovation (PSU Phuket Digital Dental Center)
4. Department of Community Health Engagement (PSU Phuket Medical Technology Service Center)
5. Department of Environmental Health Sciences (PSU Phuket Thai Traditional Medicine Hospital)
6. Department of Health Policy and Economics (Songklanagarind Hospital Phuket)
7. Department of Wellness and Rehabilitation (PSU Phuket Kasem Chivasuk Center)



Assoc. Prof. Pun Thongchumnum, Ph.D., Vice President for Phuket Campus, shared his vision for this landmark development: "This institute will drive innovative solutions for sustainable health in the Andaman region, integrating research, education, and community impact."



This official Gazette announcement serves as a crucial legal and administrative foundation. It enables the university to streamline management, establish organizational hierarchy, and plan future workforce frameworks effectively. Furthermore, it validates and secures relevant welfare and healthcare benefits for personnel and service users across all 7 sub-divisions, including medical expenses and children's tuition subsidies.
