PSU opens Southern Thailand’s first and largest Microscope and Esthetic Dentistry Center
The Faculty of Dentistry, Prince of Songkla University (PSU) officially inaugurated the PSU Microscope and Esthetic Dentistry Center (PSU-ME) on June 26, 2026, marking a major milestone in advancing specialized dental care through state-of-the-art technology. The center aims to enhance diagnostic accuracy, improve treatment outcomes, and expand access to high-quality oral healthcare for people across Southern Thailand.
The opening ceremony was presided over by Assistant Professor Dr. Niwat Keawpradub, President of Prince of Songkla University, together with Associate Professor Dr. Songchai Thittasomakul, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, and Associate Professor Dr. Kewalin Thammasitboon, Director of the PSU-ME Center, who welcomed distinguished guests and members of the media.
Established with funding from the 2025 national government budget, the center features a newly renovated specialist restorative dentistry clinic designed to support clinical services, education, research, and professional development under one roof.
As the first and largest microscope and esthetic dentistry center in Southern Thailand, PSU-ME houses 21 treatment units and is equipped with more than 10 dental operating microscopes. These advanced technologies enable dentists to visualize treatment areas with exceptional precision, improving the diagnosis and management of complex dental conditions while enhancing patient outcomes.
Beyond patient care, the center also serves as a regional hub for education and professional training, supporting dental students, general practitioners, specialists, and oral health professionals. It is also designed to accommodate academic visits and continuing professional education programs at both the national and international levels.
Assistant Professor Dr. Niwat Keawpradub stated that the establishment of PSU-ME represents another significant step in strengthening the university's excellence in health sciences through investment in advanced technology and the development of highly skilled healthcare professionals for the long-term benefit of society.
Associate Professor Dr. Songchai Thittasomakul added that the center has been designed not only as a specialized clinical facility but also as a center for learning, research, and professional development, ensuring that dental professionals are well prepared to meet future technological advancements and evolving oral healthcare needs.
The launch of the PSU Microscope and Esthetic Dentistry Center reflects the Faculty of Dentistry's and Prince of Songkla University's commitment to advancing dental treatment, education, and research through innovation, while strengthening oral healthcare services for Southern Thailand and the nation.
