11.4.5 Affordable housing for students
Metric: Sustainable practices
Provide affordable housing for students.
Prince of Songkla University (PSU) supports students’ access to affordable and secure accommodation through university-managed dormitories across its five campuses. By providing housing at relatively low costs and offering financial assistance to eligible students, PSU helps reduce living expenses and promotes equitable access to higher education.
1. Affordable Student Housing across Five Campuses
In 2025, PSU reported 41 student dormitory buildings across its five campuses, providing at least 5,755 rooms and accommodating at least 10,566 students per semester, based on available campus records.

2. Affordable Housing Costs
PSU provides student accommodation at rates generally lower than those of nearby private housing options.

|---|
| Hat Yai | 600–1,800 | 3,000–8,000 |

| Phuket | 1,660 | 3,200–5,000 |
| Surat Thani | 600–2,500 | 1,800–4,000+ |
| Trang | 760–2,000 | 2,400–4,000 |
The figures represent reported monthly accommodation costs. Rates vary according to campus, room type, and accommodation arrangements.
3. Financial Assistance and Housing Support
PSU provides additional housing assistance to eligible students through several measures:
Dormitory Fee Waivers: Available to eligible scholarship recipients, including Ton Kla Scholarship students, students with disabilities, and financially disadvantaged students, subject to university criteria.
Deferred Dormitory Payments: Payment arrangements for students experiencing financial difficulties.
Private Housing Support: Information on affiliated private dormitories and accommodation options near university campuses.
Emergency Financial Assistance: Financial support mechanisms for eligible students facing urgent housing-related difficulties.
These measures help reduce financial barriers to student accommodation and support students from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds.
Commitment to Inclusive Student Housing
Through affordable dormitory provision, housing fee waivers, and financial assistance, PSU supports students’ well-being and reduces housing-related financial burdens. These initiatives contribute to educational accessibility, student welfare, and more inclusive and sustainable campus communities.
