11.2.2 Public access to libraries

Metric: Support of arts and heritage

Provide public access to libraries including books and publications.

Prince of Songkla University (PSU) supports lifelong learning by providing public access to university libraries, books, academic publications, and learning resources. Through its campus libraries and digital knowledge platforms, PSU extends educational opportunities beyond the university community to students, researchers, and the general public.

1. Public Access to University Libraries

Khunying Long Athakravisunthorn Learning Resources Center – Hat Yai Campus

The Khunying Long Athakravisunthorn Learning Resources Center provides access to printed books, academic journals, research publications, and library facilities for university members and the general public.

External visitors can use library resources through daily admission or membership arrangements. The library also provides reading and study spaces, including designated 24-hour learning areas accessible to the wider community.

John F. Kennedy Library – Pattani Campus

The John F. Kennedy Library, operated by PSU’s Office of Academic Resources, provides library and information services to university members and external visitors. Its facilities support access to books, publications, and academic learning resources, contributing to educational opportunities for communities in Southern Thailand.

2. Public Access to Books and Academic Publications

PSU facilitates public access to books and academic resources through its online library catalogue and institutional repository.

  • PSU Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC): Enables users to search for books and other library resources online.

  • PSU Knowledge Bank: Provides free online access to search and discover university research, theses, dissertations, academic publications, and other educational materials, subject to applicable access and copyright conditions.

These services expand access to knowledge beyond physical library buildings and support self-directed learning and research.

Through its physical libraries and digital platforms, PSU promotes inclusive access to information, educational equity, and lifelong learning, contributing to more inclusive and sustainable communities.
