8.2.8 Employment practice appeal process

Metric: Employment practice

Have a process for employees to appeal on employee rights and/or pay.

Prince of Songkla University provides a formal mechanism for University employees to appeal decisions affecting their employment rights and remuneration.

Under the Prince of Songkla University Regulation on Appeals and Grievances of University Employees B.E. 2559 (2016), employees have the right to appeal disciplinary decisions that affect their employment and pay. This includes disciplinary measures involving salary deductions and salary reductions. Appeals must be submitted within the prescribed period and must include the relevant facts, grounds for appeal, and the remedy requested by the employee.

The regulation also provides a grievance mechanism for employees who believe that they have been treated unfairly or that a supervisor has exercised authority improperly or contrary to applicable laws, regulations, or University rules.

PSU has established an Appeals and Grievance Committee to consider such cases and provide employees with a formal channel for review and resolution of employment-related concerns.

Complaint and Grievance Management Process

In addition to the formal appeal mechanism, PSU operates a structured complaint and grievance management process.

Employees may submit complaints through several channels, including in person, by post, by email, or through designated complaint boxes. Complaints are subject to preliminary review and are referred to the responsible unit for fact-finding, follow-up, and resolution.

The process includes defined response timelines, corrective or remedial measures where appropriate, and communication of outcomes to the complainant. Where necessary, findings may also be used to develop preventive measures or improve University policies and practices.

Together, these mechanisms demonstrate that PSU provides employees with formal channels to appeal decisions affecting their employment rights and remuneration and to seek review and resolution of workplace grievances.
