8.2.1 Employment practice living wage
Metric: Employment practice
Pay all staff and faculty at least the living wage, defined as the local living wage (if government defines this) or the local financial poverty indicator for a family of four (expressed as an hourly wage)
Prince of Songkla University is committed to providing fair and adequate remuneration that supports the economic security and well-being of its staff and faculty.
In the absence of an officially defined local living wage, PSU refers to the official poverty-line indicator published by Thailand’s National Economic and Social Development Council (NESDC). In 2024, Thailand’s official poverty line was THB 3,078 per person per month. For a household of four, this represents a poverty-based financial threshold of THB 12,312 per month, equivalent to approximately THB 71.03 per hour based on a standard 40-hour working week.
PSU systematically monitors employee remuneration. In 2025, the average monthly salary among employees with 1–5 years of service was THB 21,246.96 for male employees and THB 19,691.88 for female employees, equivalent to approximately THB 122.58 and THB 113.61 per hour, respectively.
