7.4.1 Local community outreach for energy efficiency
Metric: Energy and the community
Provide programmes for local community to learn about importance of energy efficiency and clean energy.
Prince of Songkla University (PSU), through its Pattani Campus, collaborates with Pattani Province to strengthen public awareness and community participation in clean energy, carbon neutrality and sustainable development.
On 26 September 2025, PSU Pattani Campus and Pattani Province signed a formal cooperation agreement to advance Carbon Neutrality and Net Zero Emissions and to pilot Pattani as a green province. The collaboration includes the development of greenhouse gas emission databases, renewable-energy pilot projects, knowledge exchange, sustainable waste management and community-based climate initiatives.

Community Education and Clean-Energy Awareness
A key component of the collaboration is to increase public and community awareness of climate change, greenhouse gas reduction and clean-energy solutions. PSU supports this through knowledge-sharing activities, academic and technical advice, training and seminars for partner organisations, communities and other relevant stakeholders.
The programme also promotes community participation in local renewable-energy and low-carbon projects, enabling communities to better understand practical pathways toward cleaner energy use, greenhouse gas reduction and sustainable local development.
Ongoing Programme and Monitoring
The collaboration is supported by a joint working group responsible for planning, target setting, monitoring and annual reporting. An annual action plan is developed to define projects, activities and targets, with progress meetings held at least twice a year. This structure supports the continuity of community outreach and knowledge-sharing activities beyond individual events.
Through this partnership, PSU extends clean-energy knowledge beyond the University and supports local communities in understanding and participating in the transition toward more energy-efficient, renewable and low-carbon development.
