7.2.5 Energy wastage identification
Metric: University measures towards affordable and clean energy
Undergo energy reviews to identify areas where energy waste is highest.
Prince of Songkla University (PSU) monitors and reviews electricity consumption to support energy-efficiency management and identify areas where further improvement is required.
The University maintains annual electricity-consumption data and monitors energy use across its five campuses. In 2025, total electricity consumption reached 100,467,532.75 kWh, with Hat Yai Campus accounting for the largest share, followed by Pattani, Surat Thani, Phuket and Trang campuses.

These data enable PSU to compare energy use across campuses and identify periods and areas with relatively high electricity demand for further review and energy-efficiency improvement.
PSU also reviews longer-term electricity-consumption trends to support energy-management planning.

The annual trend provides an evidence base for identifying the need for strengthened energy-efficiency measures and for prioritising future interventions in high-consumption areas.
PSU’s Net Zero Emission Policy also promotes improved energy and resource efficiency, reduced fossil-fuel use and regular maintenance of building cooling systems as part of the University’s approach to reducing direct greenhouse gas emissions.
At the building level, PSU also applies energy and resource-management practices through the Green Office programme. In 2025, PSU Pattani Campus had 27 Green Office-certified buildings, demonstrating the implementation of structured environmental and energy-management practices within existing facilities.
Through electricity monitoring, campus-level comparison, building energy-management practices and regular maintenance, PSU uses energy-performance information to identify high-consumption areas and guide future efficiency improvements.
