6.5.5 Cooperation on water security
Metric: Water in the community
Cooperate with local, regional, national, or global governments on water security.
In 2025, Prince of Songkla University strengthened cooperation with government agencies to advance water security in Southern Thailand.
On 14 October 2025, PSU participated in the signing of a cooperation agreement under the “Thailand’s Future for Water Security” initiative, organised by the National Research Council of Thailand and the Agricultural Research Development Agency. The collaboration focused on integrated water-resource management, flood and drought risk reduction, and participatory water management in Songkhla and Phatthalung Provinces.
PSU researchers contributed to provincial water-management planning in Songkhla and Phatthalung and to community-based water-management approaches for reducing flood and drought risks in the Sathing Phra Peninsula.

PSU also cooperates with the Provincial Waterworks Authority, Region 5, through the development of a high-pressure water distribution station and approximately 10 kilometres of water-supply pipelines serving the Thung Yai extension area and nearby communities.

These collaborations demonstrate PSU’s active role in supporting water security through joint planning, infrastructure development, research and community-based water management.
