6.5.1 Water management educational opportunities

Metric: Water in the community

Provide educational opportunities for local communities to learn about good water management

In 2025, Prince of Songkla University provided educational and knowledge-sharing opportunities for local communities and external stakeholders to strengthen sustainable water management and community resilience.

Key activities included the 16th “Hat Yai Strong, Fighting Floods” seminar on 17 October 2025, which brought together government agencies, civil society, and local stakeholders to exchange knowledge on flood preparedness, technology, and community-based water management.

Learning Opportunities on Sustainable Water Management

From 23–25 July 2025, Prince of Songkla University participated in the “Water Security: No Flood, No Drought” workshop, which provided field-based learning on sustainable water management in the Mae Klong River Basin.

The programme covered reservoir and irrigation management, digital technologies for water management, and participatory approaches to reducing flood and drought risks. It also enabled researchers, government agencies and local stakeholders to exchange practical knowledge on water security and sustainable water-resource management.

These activities demonstrate PSU’s role in providing practical educational opportunities for communities to improve local water-management knowledge and preparedness.
