6.4.1 Water reuse policy

Metric: Water reuse

Have a policy to maximise water reuse across the university.

Prince of Songkla University is committed to increasing water reuse across the University as part of its sustainable water-management and Net Zero policies.

The University’s wastewater management policy promotes the reuse of treated wastewater for appropriate non-potable purposes, including landscape irrigation. Treated wastewater from PSU’s wastewater treatment systems is reused for watering trees and maintaining lawns within the campus.

PSU also promotes rainwater harvesting and reuse. Rainwater collected from roofs, paved areas, and drainage systems can be filtered and reused for suitable purposes such as landscape irrigation, toilet flushing, and outdoor cleaning.

In addition, PSU’s Net Zero Emission Policy supports the expansion of rainwater harvesting and recycled-water use as part of the University’s commitment to more efficient water and wastewater management.

Together, these measures support PSU’s efforts to reduce dependence on potable water and maximise the reuse of alternative water sources across university operations.
