6.3.3 Free drinking water provided

Metric: Water usage and care

Provide free drinking water for students, staff and visitors (e.g. drinking water fountains).

Prince of Songkla University provides free and accessible drinking water for students, staff, visitors, and members of the university community.

Across the University, drinking-water dispensers and water-filtration systems are installed at key locations, including student cafeterias, student residences, academic buildings, faculty and administrative offices, and other public areas.

In the 2025 academic year, 127 drinking-water service points were available in student cafeteria and residential areas, with additional drinking-water facilities provided across faculties, offices, and other university units.

Safe and Accessible Drinking Water

PSU installs standard-quality drinking-water filtration systems to ensure that drinking water is suitable for consumption. Drinking-water dispensers and filtration systems are maintained to support safe and reliable access to drinking water for university users.

Water-quality monitoring and maintenance are conducted to ensure that drinking-water facilities remain safe and functional.

Accessible Locations across Campus

Free drinking-water facilities are provided in locations that are frequently used by students, staff, and visitors, including:

  • student cafeterias;

  • student residences;

  • academic buildings;

  • faculty and administrative offices; and

  • public and common areas.

The widespread provision of drinking-water facilities enables students, staff, and visitors to conveniently access drinking water while on campus.

The availability of refill points also encourages the use of reusable drinking bottles and helps reduce dependence on single-use plastic water bottles, contributing to PSU’s broader sustainability and waste-reduction goals.
