5.3.2 Policy for women applications and entry
Metric: Student access measures
Have a policy (e.g. an Access and Participation plan) addressing women’s applications, acceptance, entry, and participation at the university.
Prince of Songkla University is committed to ensuring equal access to higher education and promoting women’s participation throughout the student access pathway, from application and admission to enrolment and participation in university life.
Under the Policy on Promoting Equality and Implementing Fair Practices in the Selection of Candidates for Admission to Prince of Songkla University, all faculties and relevant units are required to ensure that student selection processes are fair, inclusive, and free from discrimination based on origin, ethnicity, religion, language, gender identity, disability, or socioeconomic background. The policy also provides additional support for disadvantaged applicants to improve access to university education.
Supporting Women’s Access and Participation
In implementing this policy, PSU promotes women’s access to higher education through the following measures:
ensuring fair and inclusive admission criteria and selection procedures;
monitoring women’s acceptance and entry through annual gender-disaggregated admission data;
providing academic guidance, counselling, scholarships, financial assistance, and other student support services that help women enter and continue their studies;
promoting equal participation of women in academic programmes, student activities, and university life; and
using admission and enrolment data to identify areas where additional outreach or support may be required.
Monitoring Women’s Acceptance and Entry
Prince of Songkla University systematically tracks gender-disaggregated data on students who are offered admission and students who complete first-time enrolment. These data are reviewed annually to monitor women’s access to the University and trends in female participation over time.
