4.3.5 Lifelong learning access policy

Metric: Lifelong learning measures

A policy that ensures that access to these activities is accessible to all, regardless of ethnicity, religion, disability immigration status or gender.

Prince of Songkla University has established both a University policy and an institutional regulation to ensure broad and equitable access to lifelong learning opportunities for people beyond its formally enrolled student population.

University Policy on Lifelong Learning

The Prince of Songkla University Policy on Lifelong Learning, announced in 2023, establishes the University’s commitment to providing lifelong learning opportunities in an inclusive, equitable and fair manner.

The policy enables members of the public to access University learning resources and participate in courses, course packages, short programmes and other forms of lifelong learning. It also promotes collaboration with people from diverse backgrounds and explicitly supports participation without discrimination on the basis of gender, race or ethnicity, religion and disability.

The policy reflects PSU’s commitment to creating a learning society in which educational opportunities are extended beyond conventional degree students and made available to the wider community.

Institutional Regulation on Lifelong Learning

This policy is further supported by the Prince of Songkla University Regulation on Lifelong Learning B.E. 2568 (2025), which provides an institution-wide regulatory framework for lifelong learning.

Under the regulation, members of the general public may participate in lifelong learning without restriction based on sex, age, educational background, occupation, religion or nationality.

The regulation also provides lifelong learners with the right to:

  • register for individual courses, course packages and short programmes;

  • access designated University services;

  • accumulate credits through the University Credit Bank;

  • receive recognition of prior learning and professional experience; and

  • obtain transcripts or certificates after successfully completing the relevant learning requirements.

Ensuring Inclusive Access

Taken together, the University policy and regulation establish a framework for lifelong learning that promotes inclusive participation and reduces barriers to access for people from diverse backgrounds.

PSU applies these principles across lifelong learning activities, including public educational resources, educational events, short professional programmes, vocational training and educational outreach activities.

Where additional support is required, PSU seeks to facilitate appropriate access for participants with different needs and backgrounds.

These institutional measures demonstrate PSU’s commitment to ensuring that lifelong learning opportunities are accessible to the wider public and are provided on an equitable and non-discriminatory basis.
