3.3.3 Shared sports facilities
Metric: Collaborations and health services
Share sports facilities with the local community, for instance with local schools or with the general public.
Prince of Songkla University shares its sports and recreational facilities with students, staff, and members of the local community to promote physical activity, exercise, and well-being.
At Hat Yai Campus, the Sports and Health Center provides access to a range of sports facilities, including football fields, swimming pools, badminton courts, tennis courts, volleyball courts, pétanque courts, fitness facilities, softball fields, and outdoor exercise areas.
Selected facilities are available to the general public free of charge. These include the aerobic exercise area and the synthetic running track at PSU Central Stadium.
The University also provides public access to the Ang Sri Trang Reservoir Running Track and Exercise Area, a 1.3-kilometre route that is open free of charge to students, staff, and members of the public from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. The area attracts approximately 1,000 users per day and is used for walking, running, exercise, and other recreational activities.
The PSU Sports and Health Center also provides an online service system through which users can apply for membership, reserve sports facilities, and request the use of designated sports areas.
Sports facilities are also available at other PSU campuses. For example, Phuket Campus operates a Sports Complex with a swimming pool and other sports facilities from Monday to Saturday, while Trang Campus provides a swimming pool, fitness center, badminton courts, and an artificial-turf football field, together with published service information and fees.
Through these facilities, Prince of Songkla University provides the surrounding community with opportunities to participate in regular physical activity and supports healthier lifestyles and community well-being.
